Well for all essential purposes there is training widely
available with funding to cover the delivery of the training - pending a few broad requirements - for permanently
employed workers and apprentices. Not everyone is aware that 100% funded
Traineeships and Apprenticeships are available across a wide range of industries
within Australia. Civil Construction is one such industry that has received a
large amount of funding along with a variety of Building Trades.
The Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operation
(RII30813) is one of the more favoured courses offering training for jobs like various
Earth Machine Operators, Haul Truck Operators, Pipe layer Operators, as well as
a wide range of other Civil Construction roles.
The Government has identified an immediate and long-term
labour requirement within the civil infrastructure space, particularly in
Queensland. Given the population
increase, it is not hard to see that numerous roads projects as well as
regeneration of public spaces are a high priority on the Government’s agenda.
Surrounding industries that accompany any large civil
development include directional drilling. Funding has also been allocated to
provide a Certificate III in Trenchless Technology (RII31613).
With any population growth, comes a growing demand for
housing and as such Cert III courses in Carpentry and Joinery, Concreting,
Painting and Decorating have also been granted funding to encourage all people
involved in the housing industry to take up this training, as well as train
their team to a higher standard.
The Qld Government insists the Queensland building and
construction industry’s future success depends upon employing workers who are
in training now. For this reason, the Queensland Government has mandated that
10% of the total hours spent on any government building or civil construction
project must be undertaken by workers in training – it’s an initiative known as
the 10% Training Policy.
